ABOUT THE ROLE

Responsible for production, cellaring, packaging, warehousing, as well as assistance in forecasting, production planning and purchasing.

Responsible for packaging of beer into cans and keg packages, operating packaging machinery and the cleaning and sanitation of packaging areas and machinery.

Pay range is starting at $45k - depending on experience

BREWER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs all brewery operations including wort production, yeast management, data recording, cellaring and filtering, pilot recipe development, packaging, general and brewery maintenance, and QA/QC.

  • Assists in the optimization performance of the brewery, controls inventories, improves quality and ensures on-time production of goods.

  • Aids in translating overall company business strategy into operational goals and objectives for the brewery.

  • Assists a team in producing a high volume of quality beer in a safe and efficient manner.

  • Learns, Improves and executes packaging operations according to standard operating procedures.

  • Helps develop, build and implement SOP's along with the Head Brewer's oversight and approval.

  • Operates machinery following all safety guidelines in an efficient manner.

  • Observes machine operations to ensure quality and conformity of filled or packaged products to brewery standards.

  • Keeps the packaging areas and workspaces clean and organized.

  • Performs basic maintenance on machinery to ensure it is functioning safely, properly, and efficiently.

  • Communicates all mechanical issues to the Head Brewer.

  • Helps keep beer in the walk-in cooler organized, using pallet jack and forklift.

  • Communicates the department’s material needs by taking frequent inventories to ensure the production schedule is executable.

  • Creates crowler and canning inventories in our Drive sheet of all beers, kegs, cans, supplies, chemicals.

  • Attends departmental meetings, special events and brewery staff meetings as requested by Head Brewer.

  • Maintains packaging tools and materials by storing them safely, neatly and in an organized fashion.

  • Creates a plan for organizing and keeping things in order.

  • Ensures the finished product is safely and neatly stored in the cooler and logged in accurately each day.

  • Completes all paperwork associated with each duty with 100% accuracy.

  • Assists co-workers and cross trains in other departments to ensure brewery goals are accomplished.

  • Ensures Historic Brew Co continues to brew the highest quality beers possible.

  • Ensures a safe working environment for employees by maintaining facility and equipment in optimal working conditions.

  • In conjunction with QC, identifies tactics for improving the quality and consistency of our beer.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Educational background in brewing or life science, and analytical background.

  • A minimum of 1 years experience in brewery production.

  • Solid working knowledge of the beer and brewing industry.

  • Knowledge of OSHA and safety standards and governmental regulatory requirements.

  • Adaptability to changing market environment.

  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills

  • Extremely high level of attention to detail.

  • Positive attitude with an ongoing sense of urgency.

  • Excellent time management skills.

  • Proven ability to work well with others.

  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
